Every year Indian Ladder Farms opens our barn doors wide to welcome students, teachers and a variety of visiting groups! We invite you to come to the farm with your group.

Baby Farm Animal Tour –  Approximately 75-90 minutes. Every spring, Indian Ladder Farms comes to life with sights, sounds, smells and touch. Come into our Baby Animal Barn where tour participants will see, pet and learn about chicks, turkey poults, ducklings, goslings, bunnies, lambs, goat kids, piglets, and calves.  Visit our new Goat Playground and learn about goat behavior while cheering on our lively goat kids as they romp and play with toys. In our Farm Animal Learning Center, visitors will  explore the interdependence between animals and people and learn about a range of farm animal products and their uses. Tour our outdoor farm animal exhibits of adult cows, pigs, goats, sheep and poultry to see what baby farm animals will look like when they are all grown up.  These limited spots fill up fast!

Farm-To-Table Tour – 75-90 minutes Where does our food come from? Connect with the sources of local food on our walking tour of the farm! Visitors will learn how farms work to protect the environment while providing us with the fresh and healthy things we eat and drink. Sustainable agriculture, pollination and honey, our herb garden, and livestock products are some of the fun and interesting things we will learn about! Plant a seed to take home! As with all of our tours, the content is tailored to meet the needs of your group.

Honey Bee and Pollination Tour (best May and June, but popular through August) Approximately 60 minutes. Participants of all ages will enjoy learning firsthand about the fascinating lives of honey bees and their important role in pollination on an apple orchard. Search for the queen bee in our observation hive. Watch the bees hard at work in the hive as while  learning about the jobs in a honeybee colony. Touch, taste, and smell the products from the hive – honey, beeswax, propolis and more. Learn about the life cycle of a honey bee and beekeeping. Tour includes a walk on the farm, see the animals and find bees at work.

Apple Farm Tour: (Fall) Approximately 60 minutes.  Participants will learn about Johnny Appleseed, visit the apple orchard, talk about pollination and apple harvesting, take a behind-the-scenes visit to the packing house and cider press, hike up Mount Mac with a spectacular view of the Helderberg Escarpment, and of course, interact with our farm animals. All the while, they are learning about farming and caring for the land, where their food comes from, local history, and so much more. Participants will receive a snack of an apple and a glass of cider.

The cost for school group tours is $10 per student. There is no charge for teachers or chaperones.  Siblings 12 months and under are free. We welcome the opportunity to customize your tour for students from preschool to high school.  

Tour Add Ons: (Please call for pricing.)  Enrich your farm experience with the following:

Hayride: 15 minute scenic ride through our orchard, charged per rider, adults and children

Pick-Your-Own Apples (fall only): Half- bushel bags (approximately 50 apples) Half-peck bags are available by request only for tour groups who would like each student to pick into their own bag.

Pick-Your-Own Pumpkins (fall only): small, kiddie pumpkins.  Larger pumpkins are priced per pound.

Pick-Your-Own Berries (summer):  Delicious blueberries and raspberries

Doughnuts: Our delicious and fresh apple cider doughnuts should be pre-ordered by groups. The tour coordinator can arrange this for you.

Apple Cider: by the gallon, freshly made on-site,

Boxed Apples: (fall only)  bushel box of apples.

And don’t forget…. our sandbox for the younger children, herb garden , animal exhibits, nature trail and picnic area for all to enjoy.  Picnic tables are available on a first come basis.
