Farm Manager

Indian Ladder Farms (ILF) is hiring a full time Farm Manager. ILF is a century old farm located in upstate New York, 15 miles west of Albany, New York.

Farm Manager responsibilities include supervising and working alongside a small group of farm laborers year-round to plant, grow, harvest, process and sell apples, berries, plums and field crops. 

Duties include managing:

  • Safety and quality control
  • H2A workers and domestic farm workers
  • Plant, grow, harvest, process and sell apples and some field crops. 
  • Cider making
  • Wholesaling of apples
  • Pick your own operation
  • Farm equipment and building maintenance
  • Snow plowing
  • Comply with federal and state standards for growing and processing food products 
  • Farm related paperwork
  • Budgeting
  • Record keeping
  • Weekly meetings on current work, projects and status.

Requirements: 

  • Hold or be willing to go through the process to acquire a NYS Private Pesticide Applicator License Subcategory 22 (Fruit)
  • Proficiency with use of a smart phone, texting, applications
  • Competency with standard features of both Microsoft Office Suite and Google Workspace
  • Possess excellent communication skills with staff and public
  • Excel in dual roles of manager and team player

Wage: $26/hour
