
Farm Manager
Indian Ladder Farms (ILF) is hiring a full time Farm Manager. ILF is a century old farm located in upstate New York, 15 miles west of Albany, New York.
Farm Manager responsibilities include supervising and working alongside a small group of farm laborers year-round to plant, grow, harvest, process and sell apples, berries, plums and field crops.
Duties include managing:
- Safety and quality control
- H2A workers and domestic farm workers
- Plant, grow, harvest, process and sell apples and some field crops.
- Cider making
- Wholesaling of apples
- Pick your own operation
- Farm equipment and building maintenance
- Snow plowing
- Comply with federal and state standards for growing and processing food products
- Farm related paperwork
- Budgeting
- Record keeping
- Weekly meetings on current work, projects and status.
Requirements:
- Hold or be willing to go through the process to acquire a NYS Private Pesticide Applicator License Subcategory 22 (Fruit)
- Proficiency with use of a smart phone, texting, applications
- Competency with standard features of both Microsoft Office Suite and Google Workspace
- Possess excellent communication skills with staff and public
- Excel in dual roles of manager and team player
Wage: $26/hour
